Thank you very much for your interest in the activities of NTDs Youth.

The “neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)” that we are working to combat affect approximately 1.5 billion people worldwide, but because they are concentrated among the poor, it is difficult to generate sufficient interest and support for them. However, preventive measures and treatments have already been established for many NTDs, and with the right support, it is possible to dramatically reduce the number of people suffering from these diseases.

In fact, the number of people affected by NTDs has steadily decreased from approximately 2.2 billion in 2010 to an estimated 1.5 billion by 2024. While the world is making progress, we aim to accelerate this momentum further.

The NTDs Youth Association began its activities in 2023 with just three board members, but now in its second year, it continues to grow by increasing its membership and achieving many results, such as making policy proposals to the Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare and the Deputy Minister of Finance, and participating in international conferences such as those organized by the WHO.

NTDs are issues that require a multifaceted approach, involving not only medicine but also sociology, education, environmental studies, design, and other fields. That is why we are leveraging the flexible thinking and passion unique to the youth generation to continue our serious yet enjoyable efforts to change society.
